The
Lonely Rangers are Ross Johnson and Johnny Sundby of Rapid City.
The graphic artist and photographer met over 10 years ago and a
weekend jam turned into a long career of playing music together.
The combination worked well with Ross's lead guitar licks and Johnny's
rhythmic strumming. With elaborate interchanging lead and tight
woven harmonies, the band has gathered a long following and plays
about 30-40 times per year in and around the Black Hills including:
Firehouse, Chophouse, Paddy O'Neills, Knight's Cellar, Thirsty's,
Central States Fair, Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup, Black Hills
Heritage Festival, and many venues in Deadwood. Their songlist inlcudes
over 120 songs from the 50's to today, but concentrates most of
it's tunes on the 70's rock and country genre and also a long list
of modern cowboy tunes and some original music.
The
Lonely Rangers hire out as a two, three, four, or five-piece band
depending on the gig, and prices range from $250 to $1000 per night.
They are flexibile in changing volumes, songs, and tempos to suit
almost any musical need from wedding dances to sophisticated convention
dinner hours.
On
bass is Lisa Sherrodd, an accomplished musician and attractive website
designer. The Rangers drummer is Terry Rathbun, known well in the
Black Hills music community as a wonderful and skilled jazz drummer.
Playing auxiliary percussion and singing with the Rangers as the
fifth member is the crystal clear voiced Luke Aadalen. Most of all
the Lonely Rangers like to have fun and provide great music!
